Platycheirus

The genus Platycheirus includes small, elongated flies that have dark-colored faces and scuttelum. The abdomen is long and either completely black or with orange-yellow, or grey-silver paired markings. 14 species have been recorded in Minnesota, with at least 5 additional species expected or likely.
